A to Z Challenge: Keep Moving

Sometimes, things just go wrong.

No matter how well we plan, we can't foresee everything. So things happen. Sometimes, you won't be able to perform as well as you wanted to. Otherwise, things happen that completely derail you.

Still... does those things kill your dreams? Only if you want them to. Or if you let them. Either way, the choice of keeping your dreams and goals alive rest with you.

When something sets me back, be it serious or relatively minor, I sit back, and take a deep breath. Then I take stock.

Does it affect me? How much? How?

Does it affect my dreams/goals? How much? How?

Will it affect how far I'm along on the road to my dreams/goals? How much? How?

Can I get back to where I was? Do I want to be where I was? What does that mean for me and my life, as well as those who depend on me?

Armed with these answers, I can decide what to do next - what I will do to start moving again. Even if it changed my dream, I redefine it and my goals and move towards that.

Because the one thing no one should want is to get mired in a place that gets them nowhere.

So has something ever set you back so far that you felt completely overwhelmed? Did you give up? If not, what did you have to do to keep going? If you did and want to start again, what do you need to do?

Hey Misha, Inspirig post. :)thanks for sharing. A couple of months back, I was overwhelmed by things happening around and in my personal life. And I w as struggling to finish my novel.I almost gave up on the novel and went under with the straineous situation. Then I thought about my two kids, and the fact that writing brings me joy. I picked up the pieces left and ploughed on. And I'm so glad I did. :)
Thanks for stopping by and commenting + following as well. Followed you back.

Thanks for the visit.

This post is timely, as the ideas seem to be dwindling and the stamina draining. But while you're making the soup for dinner and idea emerges, and you carry on...

great blog and yes, we need to keep moving becuase if we don't we stay stuck and that's not good...I consider it wallowing! Some action is bettr than no action!

And sometimes wallow is good too. Sometimes it's good to let your mind and body decide - at least for a time. When impatience kicks in, then it's time to move on.

'Keep Moving'. Good advice for anyone and everything. Motivation is a personal choice.

Great advice that I need Every. Single. Day LOL.

Yeah I've noticed eventually that stopping my writing endeavors has a very negative impact on my life.

Not doing that again. :-D

So true. Sometimes it just takes a bit more time than you thought. It's no reason to give up.

I'm so glad you found value in my words. Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah... wallowing has this terrible way of becoming habitual. :-)

Misha Gerrick said...

Yes. As long as you don't get stuck.

Definitely. One isn't born with motivation. At least I don't believe so.
