My Reasons for Blogging

I've been thinking about blogging over the past few days, after reading a post by a blogging friend who asked why her readers blog.

So why do I blog?

I originally started almost two years ago after I read that agents and publishers are more willing to look at manuscripts by authors who have platforms.

Soon, though, I realized that blogging is so much more than that. It helps me share my thoughts and feelings with many people, some of whom actually know what I'm trying to talk about.

It's a place where people support and help each other, especially in things that make most people that I know think that I'm stupid and/or insane.

It's nice to be heard.

But another reason why I blog? Well... it keeps me honest. It gives me a reason to explore my thoughts and feelings about sometimes difficult topics. Then, it gives me the motivation I need to act on those revelations that I wrote down.

None of that would have been possible if it wasn't for you, blog reader. Friend.

Thank you.

Why do you blog?

If blogging was just a glorified diary, I'd have stopped by now, but you're right - it's the support and advice that I can get from so many different people that keeps me coming back.

It's my outlet. I started because a friend got me into it. Told me I could make some money with a recipe blog. At the time any cash was needed so I tried it. The money has not exactly poured in like she told me, but I am enjoying sharing things with people. Either with my recipes or my humor and know that it is appreciated.

You are very interesting, I like to see what you're up to.
I love history and food and when not busy writing commercial articles, I like to share foods that appeal to me, and to make it half-way interesting, like to include something about it.
You changed your picture. Just so you know, the other one was fine too.
Regards and thanks for setting me straight about bobotie.

I started to blog completely by accident and it has turned into this crazy fulfilling wonderment. I love meeting others and getting their take on issues, ideas, etc. Great post!

Wow! Misha, you do have good, honest reasons to blog! I love reading your posts, btw.

I run my blogs so I can get readers to connect with authors and win books and Amazon GC!

I blog to connect with other people in the writing world. Along with it being a positive thing for agents, I've found it's a great way to meet new people and learn about awesome books.

Yeah it's the same with me. I would have stopped a long time ago if it wasn't for my many readers. :-)

Poetry is such a great way to work through pain. So is blogging, come to think of it.
