Choices choices...

Before I start, I just want to apologize for not posting on Wednesday. I've been struggling to maintain both blogs while unpacking. Luckily for me, things are settling down. I've even found the bedding and curtains I wanted.

Soon my room will be fixed up. I just need to find my desk, because sadly I haven't had time to find it yet.

I'm really getting to the point where I can't do anything else. I don't have a surface in my room yet, so no lamps, not vases. No nothing until I've at least bought my desk.

So now I'm sitting on coals, waiting to go shopping.

It helps that I know more what I'm looking for.

At first I always wanted a french bureau like this:

But it's too small for what I need. So now I want this:

For lots of storage space.

Or ideally...

For lots of space, period. And I love that this one has a panel that I can use for my laptop.

It has to be antique, though. Because I'm not spending a large amount of money on something that is in essence without value. So generic writing desks from decor shops: OUT.

Hopefully I'll get a good desk for a price where we can afford a chair as well...

So that's what's going on in my life. What's up at your end of the world?

My desk is my kitchen table because I like to write with the sunlight coming through the patio door and the windows, but soon I'll have to give it and find a nice desk with storage space.
Number 2 will give you more storage space, but I like 1 and 3.

We go to garage sales a lot and see furniture aplenty and at reasonable prices. Now and then a real antique is acquired. We do all this to resell. Recently bought a "secretary" which is similar to your first photo (French bureau) but we have to process it ( paint it and distress it) before we bring to shop.
I must say that you have very good taste, good for you.
Hope you get completely settled soon.
The Education Tipster is writing her YA novel, reading the vampire series "Twilight" (not my cup of tea)and working on another children's book. Me, working on garge sale bought furniture in the garage, ghost-writing technical articles, fooling in the garden. Get a glimmer of an idea for story now and then but am not pursuing anything, which I feel guilty about because I probably should.
Stay well Misha.

Oh, I can't stand packing and unpacking. I'm glad you are almost done. I love the antique desks. Great choice.

I bought a desk about 2 weeks ago, and like you, I felt anxious waiting for it. I bought a mission-style one at an antique shop. Good luck!

Packing and unpacking--not fun.

Good luck with the rest of the move! I love the third desk, with the space for the laptop. My desk makes no such space, and I end up balancing it on top of catalogues/books whilst I type my manuscript into my old, clunky desktop (I seem to get more done that way, for some weird reason).

Looking forward to seeing what your new desk is like1

I hope the unpacking goes well. Two blogs does take up the time doesn't it? Enjoy the blog break and don't worry.

Finally my computer has let me post a comment on your blog again. It's been friving me nuts and doing that blue screen thing and all sorts. Grrr!

BTW check out this post: http://laussieswritingblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/copyright-education-are-you-clueless.html
It's very enlightening.
