A to Z Challenge: Journey

Sometimes, I'm tempted to look back on this past year and wonder why any of it had happened. I mean, why go to the heights of excitement only to have the rug yanked out from under your feet more often than not?

That's a question I still don't really have an answer to. Yes, for some of it, I was stupid. Other times, I'd been careful. Life still went awry more often than not.

I do believe, though, that it's all part of the journey. No road is just a smooth, endless straight line to some destination. There will be ups and downs. And if I look up from those ups and downs and look around, I might actually see some beautiful scenery.

Like the way me and my family stood together through the harshest of times. And how we're continuing to do so while facing the fall-out.

Like those blessings I'd mentioned on the 2nd.

There is beauty all around, even in the darkest moments.

I have to look up from the road to see it, though.

Which is part of the reason why I'm continuing to write these posts even though some of them are very hard to do. There's beauty in learning too. And I'm hoping that these lessons are all part of preparing for the next leg of my journey.

A way to smooth the road just a little more.

Thoughts?

You summed it up well with life with the ups and downs. A pastor's wife told me once that she's learned to appreciate the good times of life because she knows there will be struggles through the hard/bad times. I also think when we go through tough/bad/hard times it strengthens our faith, assuming one has a faith, and grows our faith, especially when we get to the other side of it and we see God's provision and hand on us as we traveled that difficult journey.

I think ultimately there are going to be smooth bits on your journey and there are going to be bumpy bits. All you can do is hold on and do what you can to get through the bumpy bits because sooner or later you'll find a smooth bit again. ;-)

Right you are the journey is varied, sometimes up and sometimes down. You need the down to know and appreciate the ups. Balance is the key and always look inside for inspiration to put one foot in front of the other. And remember, there is always...truly always someone worse off. I like your attitude.

Betty, that's so true. Sometimes when we hit a rough patch, all we see is the difficulty, but not God who's with us even then.

Click, couldn't agree more. Thanks for stopping by!

So true, Sandy. No matter what, there's always something to be grateful for. :-)
